Our Plants
Plants are our "raison d'etre"! Our mild coastal climate allows us to offer a wide choice of trees, shrubs and garden plants throughout the year. You'll find an amazing selection of healthy plants whether you visit us at the peak of the spring season or in mid-winter!

Our North Burnaby/Lougheed store, with a 2 acre nursery, carries the largest selection. Saanich and Mandeville have large nursery sales areas and our five smaller stores offer an incredible selection by getting frequent deliveries.

Close relationships with specialized growers in both Canada and the U.S. allow us to fill special orders and obtain hard-to-find plants on a regular basis.

Conifers
GARDENWORKS carries a wide range of evergreen hedging plants in a variety of sizes. We offer dwarf conifers suitable for bonsai or the small garden, and interesting specialty conifers. We also have many one-of-a-kind specimens ideal for containers or as a garden focal point.

Deciduous Shrubs All locations carry a great selection of shrubs but it's our selection of the lesser known flowering shrubs like enkianthus, contorted hazel, physocarpus, witch hazel, and unusual viburnums that capture the imagination! Vines Clematis, wisteria, honeysuckle and ivy are among our most popular climbers. We also offer intriguing selections such as Dutchman's pipe, chocolate vine, climbing hydrangea and hummingbird vine.

Fruit Trees Our North Burnaby/Lougheed, Saanich, Mandeville and Colwood locations carry an extensive selection of fruit trees, many with a semi-dwarf or dwarf growth habit ideal for smaller gardens! We also make sure to have a good selection of specialties and novelties like colonnade apples, combination fruit trees and "espaliered" trees.  Shade & Flowering Trees We strive to offer a great selection of trees ideal for the small garden such as Japanese maples, dogwoods and magnolias as well as more traditional choices for a larger lot such as flowering plums, weeping willow, and birch. Rhododendrons & Azaleas From small starter plants to large specimens, these are among the most popular plants we offer. Plants from specialized growers in the Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island and Oregon ensure our selection is extensive and interesting! Broadleaf Evergreens Coastal favourites! Shrubs like Ceanothus (California Lilac), Hebe, Choysia (Mexican orange), Skimmia and Pieris offer leafy foliage year 'round and a showy display of flowers as well. Palms, bamboos, Nandina, Fatsia and others will lend a tropical look to your garden and survive our winters too!

Roses The traditional choice for colour, fragrance and beauty. We're proud to offer locally grown roses from rose specialist Roses & Roses, as well as selections from Weeks Roses, one of the premier rose growers in North America.

Tropical Plants Each of our stores carries a constantly changing selection of tropical foliage and flowering plants to compliment your décor and pique the interest of the keen indoor gardener. From tiny starter plants to 8 foot specimens our plants are always fresh. Plus we have a great selection of exotic orchids all year round; phalaenopsis, cymbidiums and many more. You'll find an array of colourful, potted, flowering plants; African violets, cyclamens, begonias just to name a few. We receive fresh seasonal flowering plants 2-3 times a week, from local growers and the United Flower Growers Auction in Burnaby. Call your local GardenWorks centre to arrange to have a flowering or tropical plant delivered for any occasion. Our tropical and flowering plants come with a "we plant it for free" offer. When you purchase both your plant and planter at GARDENWORKS we'll pot it up for you free of charge!

Florist Shop

Our Florist shop has a great selection of fresh seasonal flowers delivered daily from local suppliers as well as bought weekly from the United Flower Growers Auction. You can have flowers arranged for any occasion, a beautiful seasonal bouquet or a professionally designed arrangement. Have a centerpiece for Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter designed specifically for your table. Arrange to have flowers delivered to your loved ones on their birthday or anniversary. Any occasion is a great reason to give a beautiful floral bouquet. Stop by to see our great selection or call in your order for pickup or delivery. Our florist shops  are affiliated with the Teleflora wire service so flowers can be sent locally or anywhere in the world.

Annuals
Year 'round you will find an outstanding selection of flowering annuals that will keep your garden or patio blooming constantly! We've developed close working relationships with the best local growers to ensure that we always have the finest quality and the latest in new and improved introductions.

Basket Stuffers
At each of our stores, from March to July, we offer an extensive selection or annuals and perennials in small pots that are ideal for planting in hanging baskets and patio containers. We've come up with some creative basket recipes to help you choose the best plants for your preferences, location and container size.

Perennials ensures that we have the best selection of top quality perennials you'll find anywhere. Many come from Heritage Perennials and Skagit Gardens, the two finest growers of perennials in the Pacific Northwest. We also support smaller perennial specialists who help us maintain a truly eclectic collection. Alpine, woodland and rock garden perennials abound, and we offer wonderful choices for fragrance, cut flowers, and for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds.

Grass Seed
Specially made for GARDENWORKS, our grass seed mixes are designed for west coast growing conditions. So whether you are starting a new lawn in a wet north exposure or filling patches in a hot, sunny southern exposure, we have the right mix for you.

Soils & Amendments
We've got the "dirt" on soils. Whether its for your garden, patio, or indoor plants we have the mix that's right for you. Remember that all soils are not created equal, if you want the best results from your plants you need to give them a good start - that's exactly what our soils will do.

Fertilizers  Do your plants need a little "pick-me-up"? Well, we carry a wide selection of fertilizers and are sure to have just what your plants need to perk them up a little. Our GARDENWORKS brand granular fertilizers (slow release) are developed especially for our West Coast conditions.  Our GardenWorks branded solubles are easy to use (just add to your watering can) and your plants will thank you for it. Ask one of our garden experts for the right food for your plants.

Pond Supplies & Water Gardening  GARDENWORKS carries the complete line of Aquascape pond products.  From small statuary pumps to micro pond and pondless kits. The Aquascape pond treatments line have remedies for stringy algae to treatments for pond fish. Please note that our Edgemont and Oak Bay stores carry a limited line of Aquascape products due to their size.

Garden Furniture
GARDENWORKS carries a wide range of Garden and Patio Furniture, from F.S.C. (Certified Sustainable) Eucalyptus to weatherproof and durable Resin Wicker.

For the largest selection, visit our 2 Burnaby locations (Lougheed Highway and “GardenWorks at Mandeville” on Marine Drive) At these two locations you can choose from a large selection of in stock furniture. In addition, we feature the fabulous “American Home and Patio” Collections which have a wide selection of custom all weather fabrics for you to choose from with delivery within only one week!

For those guests not able to get to the larger stores, we do stock small “sample selections” at both our Oak Bay and Capilano stores. Our staff would be happy to assist you with an order.

Seasonal Items
During the Christmas Holiday Season, all of our stores feature a wide range of merchandise to trim your home for the "festive season". Our specialty is plants - Christmas trees from 3 to 10 feet: poinsettias in traditional red and more contemporary colours; fresh-cut boughs and wreaths and holly - but we also carry Christmas trims and ornaments. Our florist shop in Mandeville also creates table centres, door swags, and other decorating items.

Garden Accents Our stores can help you accent the beauty of the plants in your garden by helping you select the right piece of wooden garden furniture, a bird bath or feeder, or a garden lantern or candle from our assortment of garden accents. We also carry a range of specialty products that make great "gifts for gardeners". The selection varies by store with the best range available in our North Burnaby and Mandeville store.

Pottery Container gardening continues to grow in popularity - for blooming colour that is changed seasonally, to growing vegetables, or for a special specimen plant on a patio or carefully placed in the garden. We offer a wide range of glazed ceramic planters from Malaysia, China and Vietnam. Lightweight fibreglass and resin planters in contemporary styles and colours, along with wooden planters made by local craftsmen, round out our selection of outdoor planters. "We plant it for free" is a service we offer for all our guests. When you purchase both your plant and container at GARDENWORKS we’ll pot it up for you free with a modest charge for the amount of soil or container mix used.
