ASSISTANT MANAGER, Edgemont Village

GardenWorks Edgemont Village is looking to recruit and welcome an Assistant Store Manager, effective February 2010.  Are you great with people and good with plants?

GardenWorks Edgemont Village is nestled in a close knit business community, serving a dynamic and involved community.    

Our position is a full time, year round one, perfect for an enthusiastic, energetic, and detail oriented person -  a person who has experience in the garden center environment and a strong horticultural knowledge base. The Assistant Manager will work closely with Mark Hiltz, Store Manager; GardenWorks Merchandise Managers, and store staff to build the Team at Edgemont and to deliver a top quality “experience” for our guests! The Assistant Manager acts as store manager in the absence of the store manager - opening, closing, banking, and supervising staff in their daily duties

The ideal candidate will be  passionate and engaged and self-motivated person  who is also able to work well as part of a successful and established team.   The Edgemont store is a very dynamic and fast paced environment, requiring a candidate who is committed and physically up for the challenge.  Key requirements great people skills in terms of communicating, motivating and guiding our store team.  Creative merchandising skills and an understanding of simple budgets, and inventory management are strong assets.   The ability to multitask, prioritize and follow through with a variety of tasks and issues is also an asset.

Specific duties may include direct responsibilities for one or more categories of merchandise, which would then entail purchasing for the department.  Familiarity with using Point of Sale and basic computer skills would assist in the role.
