GARDENWORKS Premium Cactus & Succulent Mix

Due to its porous consistency, this soil blend allows for exceptional drainage while still maintaining adequate water retention for succulents. This product can be used straight from the bag with no additional amendments.

    DIRECTIONS FOR USE

    1. Select a clean container with drainage holes. Place broken clay shards or pebbles partially over drainage holes to prevent loss of soil (optional). Partially fill new container with GARDENWORKS Premium Cactus & Succulent Mix so that the plant will not be too deep in the pot, leaving approximately 2.5cm space for watering at the top of the pot.
    2. Before transplanting, the soil around the plant should be slightly moist so that it can be easily removed from its pot. While holding the plant gently but firmly, invert the container & remove the plant. Larger plants should be lifted by grasping the base while leaning the pot onto its side.
Tip: For cactus plants with spines, wrap the entire plant in burlap or other dense material to protect the hands while working with them. Leather gloves may help too.
    3. Position the plant in the centre of the container. Fill container with soil to 2.5cm from the top, so that the plant will be at the same depth as it was in its previous container. Press soil firmly around the edges. Water thoroughly but do not flood.
    4. Move to an area with appropriate growing conditions for your particular cactus or succulent.

    GROWING TIPS

Light: Most cacti and succulents need at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight per day.

Feeding: Fertilize your cacti no more than 1-2 times per year, and only within the growing months (late spring through summer). We recommend feeding your plant with GARDENWORKS All Purpose Plant Food 20-20-20. There is no need to fertilize in the winter when the plants are dormant.

Watering: Avoid over-watering by letting the soil dry out in between watering. It is better to water more thoroughly, less frequently.
